History of Photography/ the Camera

The first picture ever taken was a picture overlooking a grassy field through a window. These pictures were taken around 1800’s, specifically around the 1820’s.

camera in Latin: “Vaulted chamber/room” Obscura for “dark”

The first camera, honestly, looks nothing like cameras today. It looks more like a music box.

Camera Obscura  was in one of my favored video games  called, Fatal Frame: Crimson Butterfly. In the game the camera Obscura was used as a weapon to fend of spirits. It has the same functions as a regular camera Obscura but with the special ability to fend of ghosts or spirits. It really depended on the film, because if you ran out of film, your only weapon would be deemed useless considering the fact without the film you cant take pictures. So in the game you were to take an immediate picture shot of the spirit, so practically if you were to miss, you would probably die, only probably because it really depends on the spirit you’re fighting.

That was just an example of where I experienced “using,” well indirectly using, the camera Obscura.

The camera Obscura was invented by Alhazen, not fully invented, but he did start the idea of the Camera Obscura which then developed into something bigger due to the extra knowledge of scientists expanding Alhazen’s work

**Fun Fact**

The first “selfie” ever was taken by Robert Cornelius, in 1839. This was the first light picture and human portrait that has been taken ever.
